About us

The University of Leeds launched the first online course developed by the Digital Education Service on FutureLearn in 2013. Since then courses developed by the team for online study, have been used and enjoyed by over two million learners worldwide.

The Digital Education Service now has a dedicated team of more than 150 professionals, experts in the fields of learning
design, multimedia production, student education and marketing. Our expertise in pedagogical innovation and excellence in online learning has been demonstrated through a number of industry awards including the MEDEA AwardAssociation of Learning Technologists (ALT) team of the year in 2015 and a PQ Magazine award in 2016.

In addition to working with University of Leeds staff, the Digital Education Service has also successfully partnered with a wide range of external organisations to co-create online courses. These include the National Institute for Health Research, the BBC, the Goldman Sachs Foundation, the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales, IBM, Marks & Spencer, the Ufi Charitable Trust and the National Science Learning Centre.
