As part of the Digital Accessibility 25 conference the University of Leeds is excited to host an in-person community viewing party event. This event is open to all but will be particularly beneficial for colleagues in faculty leadership roles, teaching staff, programme managers, project managers, and learning technologists.

• Location: University of Leeds, Fine Art Building, SR (G.04), SR (1.10)  and SR (2.09)   
• Who can attend?  This event is available to anyone but will be especially useful for Faculty leadership, teaching staff, programme managers, project managers, learning technologists, and anyone involved in digital accessibility projects.

Conference themes 

The overall theme for the event is 'Towards Institutional Maturity'. Digital accessibility is about much more than just compliance with the standards, and being compliant says absolutely nothing about your institution's ability to build and sustain a truly accessible organisation. 

For too long, lone practitioners have found themselves battling against their institutions to advance the digital accessibility conversation, scrabbling to gain purchase with institutional agendas, struggling against competing priorities, and floundering amongst the labyrinthine institutional machinery, with too little real change to show for their efforts. Affecting real change has been difficult and frustrating.  

This is beginning to change. Universities are starting to take a 'whole organisation' approach to digital accessibility. Institutional maturity is about building the institutional capabilities necessary to create and sustain a truly accessible organisation. We have identified three sub-themes for the event: 

• The Accessible University - What does the accessible university look like? What features does it exhibit? How is digital accessibility embedded across all of the institution's activities? What is necessary to sustain high quality digital accessibility and ensure that this can be sustained, and can evolve, as the landscape shifts? 
• Operating the Institutional Machinery - How do we affect real change in large and complex organisations? How can practitioners navigate the institutional machinery and identify the right levers to pull, and the right order in which to pull them? How is real change achieved and transitioned into the business-as-usual world of the truly accessible university? 
• Emerging and Evolving Practice - How is digital accessibility practice evolving? What new technologies are having impacts? What approaches are you developing to move digital accessibility forward in your institution? What lessons have you learnt? How is your practice developing?
