The Best Online Courses of All Time: University of Leeds in top 200

Four online courses from the University of Leeds have ranked in The Best Online Courses of All Time on Class Central, demonstrating once again that Leeds is among the top institutions around the world for digital learning!

Class Central is a leading search engine and review site for online courses. Since 2016, The Best Online Courses of All Time rankings have been published on the site, based on thousands of reviews written by real learners.

In 2020, Class Central’s rankings feature courses from ~100 universities in 23 countries. The University of Leeds features in the list alongside distinguished institutions such Harvard University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Here are the Leeds courses on the list:

Critical Thinking at University: An Introduction

Available on FutureLearn, 4hrs per week for 2 weeks.

This course is from our portfolio of courses for academic skills. It demonstrates the critical thinking skills needed at university level, how they can be applied to different disciplines, and how to use practical strategies to develop these skills for a successful academic life.

Transport Systems: Global Issues and Future Innovations

Available on FutureLearn, 4hrs per week for 2 weeks.

This online course with academics from the Institute for Transport Studies allows learners to discover how the transport sector can develop infrastructures that meet the needs of a 21st century population and introduces learners to what it is like to study for a master’s degree at the Institute for Transport Studies.

Improving Healthcare Through Clinical Research

Available on FutureLearn, 4hrs per week for 4 weeks.

Learners will work through case studies and examine how research contributes to the treatment of major diseases, such as cancer and dementia, examining the process of conducting research and the ethical questions raised.

Ecology and Wildlife Conservation

Available on FutureLearn, 2hrs per week for 2 weeks.

Learners will discover ecology with academics from Faculty of Biological Sciences the and learn how we can protect wildlife and conserve the natural world. This is one of our STEM online taster courses.

Each of the above courses has received an average of 4.5 or 5 stars on the Class Central website, placing them firmly among the rankings of the top 200 courses.

This is not the first time that Leeds have performed well in Class Central’s rankings, either. Last year, Leeds featured more frequently than any other institution in Class Central’s Best Online Courses of 2019, with 4 courses in top 30!
