DENFest 2026 will take place in the Esther Simpson building over three floors.
Refreshments and lunch will be hosted in the Esther Simpson cafe on the ground floor, (what3words for the Esther Simpson Cafe: ///form.give.again).

Information about Esther Simpson
Emergency & Fire Safety
- The fire alarm is tested every Wednesday at 8:15am (brief test lasting approx 30 seconds). If delegates arrive to the venue early on Wednesday 2 July, you may experience this test.
- In the event of a real alarm, please leave the building immediately using the nearest exit.
- The assembly point is on the grassed lawn at the front of the building.
- If you require assistance evacuating, go to the nearest refuge point by the lifts/stairwells and follow instructions.
Facilities
- Toilets are available on every floor, including accessible toilets.
- Drinking water fountains are located on each floor (near toilets) and outside at the front of the building.
- A quiet space will be available for delegates.
Accessibility
- The building has step-free access via the rear entrance.
- There are two lifts serving all floors.
- Accessible toilets are available throughout.
First Aid & Emergencies
- In an emergency, call 999 first.
- You can also contact University Security: 0113 343 2222.
- The nearest defibrillator (AED) is located outside the Facilities Directorate Building, near the accessible entrance at the rear of Esther Simpson (available 24/7).
Event support
- Members of the DENFest event team will be identifiable by lanyards with neon green badges. Please speak to them if you need help during the event.
