Art and Design Online Courses

This selection of online courses is specially designed for students studying in schools or colleges who are interested in studying art and design at university. These courses expand the learner’s knowledge in a range of relevant subjects that will complement the work they are completing at school.

Innovation: The Fashion Industry

This online course explores how big fashion retailers innovate to stay ahead of the competition. Through fascinating case studies on Marks & Spencer, students explore the innovation process in the fashion industry. They will then explore future directions of fabric and garment innovation and discuss technologies which have impacted the industry.

WW1 Heroism: through Art and Film

On this online course, students will discover some of the ways that heroism is portrayed through art and film. They will explore recruitment posters and the messages they portrayed, explore contemporary German film and then compare it to a recent book, film, or TV programme about the First World War.

Physical Theatre: Exploring the Slap

This online course will introduce students to world-renowned Russian director Meyerhold’s technique of biomechanics. Students will study and experience first-hand his revolutionary biomechanical étude, ‘The Slap’.
